How many of your last 10 books read were written by women?
In his PhD study, Senior InterVarsity Press editor, Al Hsu found that among emerging adults females read female authors 46% of the time. Men only read female authors 10% of the time.
As I think about the important perspective and experience women bring, my first thought is that the first herald of Jesus’ resurrection was a woman. Without the perspective and testimony of women, we miss much of what God has for us.
This month InterVarsity Press is launching the #readwomen campaign. Read the press release.
Some of my favorites from InterVarsity and other publishers are:
- A Credible Witness – Brenda Salter McNeil
- Strengthening the Soul of Your Leadership – Ruth Haley Barton
- The New Jim Crow – Michelle Alexander
- The Very Good Gospel – Lisa Sharon Harper
Camilla also highly recommends Liturgy of the Ordinary by Tish Warren.
